What is the use of thiourea
Source:   Author:

Thiourea is used as raw materials for the synthesis of thiathiazole, methionine and other drugs, as well as raw materials for dyes and dyeing aids, resins and molding powders, vulcanization accelerators for rubber, flotation agents for metal minerals, catalysts for the preparation of phthalic anhydride and fumaric acid, and metal antirust agents. In the field of photographic materials, it can be used as developer and toner, and also in the electroplating industry. Thiourea is also used as diazo sensitive paper Synthetic resin coatings, anion exchange resins, germination accelerators, fungicides, and many other aspects. Thiourea is also used as fertilizer, as raw materials for manufacturing drugs, dyes, resins, compression molding powders, rubber vulcanization accelerators, metal mineral flotation agents, and so on.

Thiourea and its function

Thiourea is an organic sulfur-containing compound, white, shiny crystal, with a bitter taste. It is produced by the reaction of hydrogen sulfide and lime slurry to produce calcium hydrosulfide, and then by the reaction with calcium cyanamide. It can also be prepared by melting ammonium thiocyanate or by the reaction of cyanamide and hydrogen sulfide. It is easily deliquescent in the air, converted into ammonium thiocyanate at 150 ℃, sublimated in vacuum at 150~160 ℃, and decomposed at 180 ℃, During storage, the packaging should be sealed and placed in a cool and ventilated warehouse, away from fire and heat sources. The role of thiourea is to increase the reaction rate, promote germination, sterilize and reduce free iodine to iodine ion.
